Ukraine lives within a year already stably without dollars of the IMF
14.11.2011 15:16 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Within almost a year already the Government does well without resources of the International Monetary Fund. This was stressed by the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during the economic Press Club, which was attended by journalists from major economic journals and expert - senior fellow at the Department of Public Finance of the State Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the NAS, Tetiana Bogdan.
«After six weeks, there will be a year as we do not get from the IMF, not one dollar,» the Prime minister has underlined, having noted that the lack of international credit resources has not led to problems in the country: all external obligations of the Government carries out in good faith, all social programs are funded. «We have spent this year with no problems, and would survive the next,» Mykola Azarov has assured, having added that during 2011, due to prudent economic and financial policy, the Government managed to stabilize as an internal situation, and to reduce the ratio of external debt to GDP.
Thus, the Head of Government has stressed that though this year and there were no income tranches from the IMF, the cooperation with the IMF was not interrupted for one day: Ukraine continues its cooperation under the program of Stand-By. Mykola Azarov has explained that the so-called pause in borrowings has incurred due to IMF demands to increase tariffs for housing-and-utility tariffs for the population, on what the Government puts forward their arguments, pending the revision of gas contracts and determinations the fair, a reasonable price of gas, from which, actually, and tariffs depend. «We had with the IMF mission absolutely frank dialogue, we have carefully discussed our position several times, and there is a full understanding,» the Prime Minister has noted.
