The officials are looking for new ways of the stabilization of cattle breeding in Ukraine
05.02.2003 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) - The representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine inform that the production of milk has grown in Ukraine as a whole. But even they understand that the tendency of growth of production was temporary phenomenon. At the background of the recent events at the market of milk, it is forecasted that milk yields and livestock will be sharply reduced. The process of reduction of the quantity of cattle especially was observed this winter. The officials, who have noticed it, try to find an exit from this difficult situation. The plan of introduction of obligatory minimum procurement prices has not managed. Now government is looking for new ways of the stabilization of cattle breeding in the country. In particular at the end of the past year the Cabinet of the Ministers issued the Decree from December 25 2002 ¹1964 «Some Question about Coordination Interindustrial Relations at the Market of the Products of Animal Origin». According to this Decree, the interdepartmental commission will be created in Ukraine. This commission should execute the functions of monitoring of the prices, the charge and payments of the grants for milk and meat by the processing enterprises, coordination of the actions which are directed to the creation of the favorable conditions for functioning of all subjects of managing at the market of the products of cattle breeding. This commission should supervise the branch of cattle breeding and processing industry. Also it will recommend the certain procurement prices for production of animal origin. It should be noticed, that it is possible to control the enterprises of public sector, but the private enterprises will not listen recommendations of anybody. And you see about 75 % of milk is just made by private enterprises now. Only the time will show as far as the creation of such commission will be effective.
