EU suspends import duties on feed wheat, barley
18.02.2011 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The EU has temporarily suspended
its import duties on feed wheat and barley, the
blocs executive said on Thursday, raising the prospects of
purchases from Australia amid tight supplies and high
global prices.
EU member government officials approved plans announced
by the European Commission last week to suspend
the 12 euro per tonne duty on feed wheat and 16 euro
per tonne duty on feed barley until June 30, 2011, an EU
official said.
The zero tariffs will apply to around half the EUs annual
tariff-rate quota (TRQ) of 2,989,240 tonnes for low- and
medium-quality wheat and 306,214 tonnes for feed barley.
