02.03.2009 17:56 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Speaking on springtime field works financing Kyiv Feb 26/09 meeting, Premier Yuliya Tymoshenko criticized banks for unwillingness to prolong credits granted to Agrarian-Industrial Complex companies. “Banking system accompanies prolongation of Agrarian-Industrial Complex companies credits with unacceptable actions,” declared Premier. Tymoshenko reminded of agreements earlier reached by Government and National Bank of Ukraine (NBU)/commercial banks, which stipulated agrarian sector credits prolongation through banking system refinancing. As to her, of total UAH3.852 milliard agrarians credits necessary to be prolonged, banks have so far granted repayments deferral only for UAH1.489 milliard. Tymoshenko said presently banks also demand additional mortgage from agricultural companies and raise interests up to over 30-50%, thus making agrarian business loss making. “As of now, we have problems of agrarian sector springtime field works financing,” stressed Premier. As to her, one of financing difficulties reasons is banks unwillingness to work with Agrarian-Industrial Complex companies.
