27.01.2009 17:31 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ministry of Agrarian Policy has grown its previous 2008/09 MY country grains export forecast up to 25 mn MT, reported Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Yaroslav Gadzalo. “As to final data, grains gross production has reached 53.3 mn MT (up against previous data 51.2 mn MT), what means that total grains offer has risen to 60 mn MT (incl. last year transitional remainders). Grains export forecast has also grown, – to slightly over 25 mn MT,” admitted Gadzalo. As to him, Ministry of Agrarian Policy is satisfied with Ukrainian grains export present rates. “We expected grains export rates would slow within Jan-Dec 2008, – as it occurred within previous years similar. It is to be admitted, in Dec 2008 grains export was slightly up against Nov 2008; besides, within this year Jan twenty days export has hit ≈ 1 mn MT. We expect Dec 2008 grains export will be 1.8-1.9 mn MT,” said Deputy Minister. As to Gadzalo, EU countries grains import duties recent growth hasn’t negatively affected Ukrainian grains export. As to him, within 2008/09 MY first half (Jul 01/08-Jan 01/09) Ukraine has shipped out over 13 mn MT grains. Gadzalo said now maize shares considerable part of Ukrainian total grains export. “Within Jan 2009 maize shared 40% of country total grains export; food/feed wheat share was about same. Also, Ukrainian grains export included barley. Besides, within Jan 2009 companies have exported over 2 mn MT rape,” added Deputy Minister. Earlier, Ministry of Agrarian Policy had forecasted Ukrainian 2008/09 MY grains export would total 21-22 mn MT.
