Medvedev accuses Ukraine of having appropriated export gas
22.01.2009 09:42 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Within telephone conversation with GB Premier Gordon Brown, RF President Dmitriy Medvedev said Ukraine had been making illegal RF gas extractions, reported RF President press-service. “Ukrainian authorities have illegally appropriated gas contained in Ukrainian export pipelines and now even don’t conceal that they have done it in order to supply gas to their own companies and consumers at cost of Europeans,” stated Medvedev. It is to be reminded, earlier Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko declared Ukraine hadn’t made any RF gas unauthorized extractions. On behalf of sovereign State, President Yushchenko said Ukraine had been, was and would be reliable gas transiter. He added Ukraine hadn’t made any single effort targeted at stopping gas supplies to Europe/EU. “It is our principal position, – as many gossips, untruthful information and falsehood are now spread. We keep to our obligations,” emphasized Yushchenko. In his turn, Oleg Dubyna, NAK Naftogaz Ukrayiny Board Chairman, denied RF accusations of Ukraine having stolen RF gas. “I think Medvedev declarations on our having shut off all gas outlets to Europe aren’t correct. I think declarations on Ukraine stealing gas are false,” stated Dubyna within recent briefing.
