Agrarian Fund fulfilled grains purchases task
06.11.2008 08:23 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
For the first time within its history, Agrarian Fund (AF) has completed task of purchasing grains for State Food Reserve. This achievement has been reached due to adding grains bought within this year to grains purchased within previous seasons as well as exceptionally high financing. Since now on, State agent purchasing activity will include only mortgage purchases. As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy, AF is going to stop grains direct purchasing in near future due to having already formed State Food Reserve. As of this year Oct 30, AF has purchased over 1.1 mn MT grains (against initially planned 1.2 mn MT). As to Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Luzan, recently formed State Food Reserve (1.18 mn MT) includes grains purchased by AF in this/previous years (in part., AF had earlier bought 2006/07 MY 280,000 MT grains). Over 1.5 mn MT food wheat/food rye have been purchased for regional reserves (officials affirm, this volume must be quite enough to influence domestic market prices through AF goods interventions). “We have enough reserves to control any fluctuations on domestic grains and bread markets,” declared Luzan.
