Sugar plants produced 2008 crop sugar beet 6,000 MT sugar

As of Sept 10/08, sugar plants made 6,000 MT sugar from this year crop sugar beet, reported National Sugar Producers Association Ukrtsukor Chief Myckola Yarchuk. “6,000 MT sugar have been already produced,” declared Yarchuk. As of Sept 10/08, sugar output was up 2,000 MT (+ 50%) against last year similar, emphasized Ukrtsukor Chief. “Having received over 150,000 MT sugar beet, plants have already processed over 60,000 MT,” admitted Yarchuk. As to Yarchuk, number of sugar plants permitted to produce sugar within this year depends on negotiations with gas suppliers/creditors. “Number of plants permitted to function hasn’t been finally fixed yet as negotiations with gas suppliers continue. Besides, problems with creditors haven’t been settled yet, either. Therefore, it is impossible to give any definite forecast in this sphere,” declared Ukrtsukor Chief. Yarchuk added presently sugar beet is processed by 3 sugar plants, while 7 other plants are in preparatory mode. As of Sept 02/08, sugar plants had produced 2,000 MT sugar from this year crop sugar beet.
