Ministry of Agrarian Policy proposes to let local authorities regulate flour prices and flour/bread production profitability

As to Cabinet draft Decree “About Urgent Measures on Stabilizing of Prices Conjuncture of Flour, Bread and Bakery Products Market,” (published on Ministry of Agrarian Policy official website), Ministry of Agrarian Policy has proposed to Cabinet to permit local authorities to regulate flour retail/wholesale prices as well as flour/bread production profitability in order to stabilize bread market/prevent bread prices growth.
As to draft Decree, Ministry has also proposed to introduce preferences to country flour millers/bakers until Jul 2008
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, bread prices had grown in some regions (Donetsk, Dnipropetrivsk, Ternopil, Zakarpatska regions and AR of the Crimea).
Premier Viktor Yanukovych had declared he might dismiss Vice Premier Viktor Slauta, Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk and Minister of Economics Anatoliy Kinakh if bread prices continue boosting.
As to Agro Perspective earlier report, within this May Ukrainian 1 grade flour bread prices had grown in 5 regions shops to UAH2,19-2,3 per kg (up 0.5-2.8% against this Apr), with maximal (UAH2,49 per kg) price having had been registered in Kyiv region shops and minimal (UAH1,36 per kg) – in Myckolayiv region shops.
As to Agro Perspective, within this May wheat/rye flour bread prices had risen in 14 regions to UAH1,84-2,22 per kg, up 1.8-12.8% as of this Apr, with highest (UAH2,22 per kg) and lowest (UAH1,58 per kg) prices having been registered correspondingly in Zakarpatska region and Myckolayiv region shops.
As to Agro Perspective, this May highest grade flour bread prices had boosted in 13 regions to UAH2,41-3,05 per kg (up 0.4-7.1% as of this Apr); this May maximal (UAH3,05 per kg) and minimal (UAH2,29 per kg) prices were registered correspondingly in Kyiv region and Donetsk region shops.
