Agrarian Fund sold slightly over 2% total wheat on exchange contest
21.05.2007 12:03 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Within contest held on Ukrainian Agrarian Exchange May 17, Agrarian Fund has succeeded to sell only 100 MT 2005 crop wheat (to be sold from State Food Reserve).
Wheat was purchased by company Yug-Postat (UAH780 per MT).
Fund put for sale 6 lots (3 1 class wheat, in total 2,100 MT; 3 4 class wheat, in total 2,105 MT).
Contest participation applications were submitted by companies Yug-Postat, APK-West, Investa-Plus and State-owned Joint Stock Company Bread of Ukraine.
Within contest, only 1 lot of all offered was purchased. Others were withdrawn from tender due to several purchasers at once having made purchase offers (as to current legislation, lot sale price is to be equal to its maximal price which can’t be raised).
After contest closure, Theophil Bauer (Agrarian Fund General Director) declared Agrarian Fund/Agrarian Exchange would in short run submit proposals on these contests execution mechanism perfection to Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ministry of Economics and Cabinet.
Bauer said it would be necessary to hold at least several trade sessions to make definite opinion, since first tender can’t be regarded as contests effectiveness index.
Since May 17, Agrarian Fund will continue holding 2005 crop wheat sale contests on Agrarian Exchange each day (exc. Sun/Sat).
As earlier reported, Apr 26, 2007 Cabinet had issued Decree permitting Agrarian Fund to sell off within 2006/07 MY 2005 crop wheat from State Food Reserve.
Reportedly, Apr 4, 2007 Cabinet meeting adopted decision permitting grains to be taken from State Food Reserve/Agrarian Fund stocks.
