Cabinet raised grains export quotas by 864,000 MT

As to Vice-Premier Andriy Kluyev, Cabinet has decided to enlarge grains export quotas (fixed until this MY end) by 864,000 MT. «Cabinet has taken up final decision to enlarge quotas, incl. barley by 600,000 MT and up, maize by 30,000 MT, food grains by 228,000», declared Kluyev. Thus, Ukrainian 2006/07 MY grains export total quota has amounted to 1.96 mn MT. Vice-Premier admitted quotas boosting was motivated by necessity to stabilize domestic market as well as form sufficient State Reserve/State Grains Food Reserve. «Within end Mar-early Feb, when 2007 grains crop prospects will be quite definite, we will examine issue of complete quotas removal on Government meeting,» recapitulated Kluyev. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Cabinet had established grains export quotas (incl. 3,000 MT wheat, 600,000 MT barley and 500,000 MT maize) until 2006/07 MY end.
