Ukrainian Agrarian Deputy Minister participating AMIS Forum

As of today, while speaking within the 8th session of the Rapid Response Forum of the AMIS (Agricultural Market Information System) within Geneva (Switzerland), Ukrainian Agrarian Deputy Minister Olena Kovaliova has said that the system of information provision of agricultural markets (AMIS) remains within many years a leading institution aimed at boosting of the transparency and predictability of the global grains’ market as part of the world food security, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
«The current market challenges together with our common goal to assure the food security make the role of the AMIS information platform grow each year. Ukraine, as one of the key players of the global grains’ market, attaches great importance to sustainable and predictable development of the agrarian sector, as well as to a coherent policy on the international market of agricultural and food products,» she admitted. As to the report, the Forum participants have discussed the short-term prospects (AMIS) and 5-year prospects (IGC) of the global grains’ market development. Besides, an issue of the reassessment of historical record of the China grains’ output and its consequence for the global grains’ reserves correct estimation, was considered additionally.
«It is important to maintain an open dialogue and information exchange between the key players on the grains’ market. Ukraine, in its turn, remains a stable, reliable partner and an exporter of agricultural products. Within this marketing year, we expect grains’ export from Ukraine to reach 49 million tons,» the Deputy Minister admitted.
It is to be admitted, the Agricultural Product Information System (AMIS) is an interagency platform (created on the initiative of the G20 Ministers of Agriculture) to boost the transparency of information on foods’ markets and improve the coordination of policy measures within the crises.
