Ukraine, EU Commission discussed Ukrainian legislation adaptation to EU sanitary/phytosanitary requirements

As of today, a regular videoconference was held within Kyiv, with the Ukrainian side and the European Commission representatives discussing a number of issues concerning the harmonization of the Ukrainian domestic legislation with the EU norms as for the management of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and foods’ bilateral trade (as for the access of the new foods to markets as well as problematic aspects of the foods which have been already permitted to enter the markets), Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection reports.
As to the report, the videoconference was participated, from the Ukrainian side, by Ukrainian
Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva, Head of the Ukrainian State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service Volodymyr Lapa and other officials.
As to the report, the videoconference participants have discussed the state and prospects of the Ukrainian domestic legislation adaptation to the EU norms, in part., within the sphere of the veterinary medicine (as for the sanitary measures, health and plant protection, etc.)
Reportedly, the videoconference participants have also analyzed the management of sanitary and phytosanitary current measures: export of the Ukrainian animal products to the EU; harmonization of common forms of the certificates for a number of foods of animal origin; measures to combat the African Swine Fever within the EU and the avian diseases within Ukraine, etc. Besides, the participants have also considered the problem of the world spread of the ash gravel (phytosanitary pest) and discussed the projects currently implemented by the International Technical Cooperation within Ukraine.
