As of this week, while speaking within a round table discussion ‘Implementation of the HACCP system into the agricultural sector’, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva has said since early this year 426 Ukrainian companies had already implemented the HACCP system, with 143 being at the development and implementation stage, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
Thus, Trofimtseva has concluded that the Ukrainian market operators who are required to implement the HACCP system due to the Ukrainian legislation, are gradually implementing it, and so their progress is tangible.
"For us, the priority here is the safety of the Ukrainian ready products which are bought by the Ukrainian or foreign consumers. So, the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food together with the Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection and the domestic business representatives are constantly working to ensure that the HACCP system functions effectively at the Ukrainian companies, and doesn’t remain «only on paper,» she stressed.
As to Trofimtseva, presently Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn, Vinnitsa and Kharkiv regions are the leading regions as for the number of the companies which have introduced the HACCP system. Besides, upon whole, within Ukraine, highest number of the companies which have introduced the HACCP system is within the meat processing and dairy industries.
«Small-scale companies which are shipping the products to the end consumer, whose staff is up to 10 persons and whose working area is up to 400 square meters, or those small-scale companies which are not shipping the products, and have staff up to 5 people - they still have time period as much as one year for the development and implementation of the HACCP system, until Sept 20, 2019,» Trofimtseva noted.
