Rada adopts law on organic products labeling

As of today, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada has adopted, within the second reading and in general, a draft Law No. 5448-d on principles and requirements for organic output, circulation and labeling of organic products, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
As to the report, some 237 lawmakers voted in favor (11 over the required minimum of 226 votes).
Reportedly, the draft Law proposes a penalty for the sale of products with an organic state logo in the absence of a certificate for legal entities at the rate of eight minimum wages (mw), for natural persons within the amount of five minimum wages.
As to the report, the document proposes to oblige producers to annually certify organic products to confirm compliance with the requirements of legislation within this area, declare the volume of organic products that are put into circulation, and agree on the labeling of organic products with the certification body.
