Trade boost possible for LDC countries
23.12.2016 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Better access to global markets could boost export from the world poorest countries by roughly 15% per cent, UN Radio says referring to the UNCTAD (UN trade body) report.
As to the report, boosting export from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) could spur economic growth as well as generate jobs and provide the money for sustainable and inclusive development.
Reportedly, although LDCs now account for about 12% of the world’s population, their share of global export is only around 1%.
As to the report, presently the world 20 major economies, the so-called G20 countries, support measures that facilitate trade by the LDCs such as duty-free and quota-free access to their markets.
«But removing all tariffs could boost LDC exports to G20 countries by about US$10 milliard per year,» the report reads.
