China breaks patent record with one million in a year

Chinas position as an economic powerhouse has been given a boost, UN Radio says referring to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) yesterday report.
As to the report, within
2015 China became the first country to break the one million patent applications barrier.
The record is important because patents, trademarks and other parts of the so-called knowledge economy are seen as key indicators of global growth.
As to the report, the trend towards patent applications’ number growth is now spreading worldwide.
It is to be admitted, now patents are closely watched by governments and policy-makers because theyre a key barometer for innovation and production.
Reportedly, China leads the global field, with more than one million patent applications filed in 2015. Thats 18% up against 2014.
