UNECE: "Certified" forest area coverage steadily enlarges

The coverage of «certified» or sustainable forests exceeded 11% global total forests in 2015, UN Radio says referring to the UNECE (UN Economic Commission for Europe) report.
As to the report, forest certification provides consumers with assurance that the products they purchase come from forests that are managed sustainably.
Also , the report shows that the UNECE region which comprises 40% of the global forests, accounts for 87% of the world certified forest area.
It is to be reminded, the sustainable forest management and the reduction of emissions from deforestation have been recognized in the Paris Climate Agreement (adopted within 2015 Dec) as efficient ways to address climate change.
