Visa-free regime and allocation of next tranche of macro-financial assistance are nearest priorities of Ukraine-EU relations

As of today, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Vice-President of the European Commission for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the parties have discussed the situation in Donbas in the context of declaring the ceasefire regime and deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the occupied territories.
Reportedly, Ukrainian President has highly appreciated the EU unchanged support for the efforts of the Ukrainian government aimed at the implementation of reforms.
In turn, the European Commission members have praised the progress of the Ukrainian authorities in stabilization of macroeconomic situation in the state, reduction of the level of inflation, ensuring transition to the overall economic growth, purification of the banking system and implementation of energy reforms.
Also, they have congratulated the President on the important decision of the IMF Board of Governors to continue the program of cooperation with Ukraine, which creates favorable conditions for the allocation of the next tranche of macro-financial aid by the EU in the amount of EUR600 million after the completion of the implementation of the previously agreed structural reforms by Ukraine.
Reportedly, the parties have also discussed the ways to support the decentralization reform, inter alia, with the U-LEAD program, road reconstruction and transport infrastructure development in Ukraine through its association with the trans-European transport networks.
As to the report, Ukrainian President has urged the EU to accelerate the process of making a decision on the introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians and completion of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
