Mediterranean Sea deaths in Jun “highest for years”

And finally, the number of people losing their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea continues to rise, with more than 2,900 deaths so far this year (up 1,000 against last year similar), UN Radio says referring to the IOM (the International Organization for Migration, a UN partner agency) report.
As to the report, within this year Jun 383 people have died (this is the highest monthly total for three years).
Reportedly, Italy is seeing most arrivals, with nearly 800 migrants rescued in the first three days of this year Jul alone, while arrivals from Greece are a fraction of what they once were.
As to the report, the total number of arrivals so far in 2016 is over 227,000 people.
