Agrarians continue sunflower sowing; May 29 sown areas have reached 3.3 mn ha

As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy press-service, agrarians keep on sowing sunflower and have sown it already at 3,358.500 ha (as of May, 29), up against initially planned 3,145.000 ha, reported Ministry of Agrarian Policy press-service.
As to report, within last 2 days sunflower has been sown at 37,300 ha.
As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy, last year similar period sunflower sown areas totaled 2,959.900 ha.
Reportedly, as of May 22, sunflower had been sown at 3,162.900 ha.
As to Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice-Premier Yuriy Melnyk, this year agrarians must actively sow other, alternative to sunflower, technical crops (in part. rape/soybeans).
As to Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts, this spring agrarians will sow sunflower at 3.1 mn ha (down 0.6 mn ha against last year spring), soybeans at 569,400 ha (up against 435,100 ha in 2005), spring rape at 169,900 ha (up against 86,800 ha in 2005).
2005 sunseeds crop had grown to 4.706 mn MT (in terms of weight after additional processing), up 1.656 mn MT (+ 54.3%) against 2004.
2005 sunseeds production profitability had declined to 24.7% (down against 45.2% in 2004).
Domestic agrarians are actively growing sunflower due to considering it one of most liquid crops.
