5 companies to compete for Odesa Port-Side Plant
08.02.2016 15:43 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The main potential buyers of Odessa Portside Plant are 5 companies: three from the USA, others from Norway and Poland, NRCU says referring to Igor Bilous, the Ukrainian State Property Fund Head, report.
As to Bilous, investors from Turkey and Indonesia are also interested in privatization of the Plant.
As to him, no domestic companies showed interest in buying the Plant. One of the factors that discourage investors, Bilous said, is big debt of the Plant before Firtash company (US$190 million).
It is to be reminded, within the last week 10 Minutes with the Prime Minister TV program, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said that within 2016 honest and transparent privatization should start in Ukraine, with Odesa Port-Side Plant and a number of Ukrainian energy companies to be put up for privatization as part of the campaign which is expected to start within 2016.
As to Yatseniuk, the Parliament is to adopt a law which enables investors «to purchase State-owned facilities in an open, fair and transparent tender with the aim of attracting foreign investment, creating new jobs, modernizing the Ukrainian economy and stripping the State companies of their political influence.»
