Ukrainian vegetable yield to exceed domestic demand by 30%

Ukrainian vegetable 2015 yield is expected to reach 8.7 million tons, exceeding domestic demand by 30% (which amounts to 6.7 million tonss), UNIAN says referring to the
Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko Twitter report.
«As to the preliminary data, the yield of vegetable crop is estimated at 8.7 million tons with consumption being 6.7 million tons (160.2 kg per person),» the Minister wrote.
Pavlenko noted that the lions share of the vegetables, or 7.4 million tons, will be obtained from the households.
As to the earlier report, the Ukrainian State Statistics Service estimated that the gross yield of field vegetables in Ukraine amounted as of Sept 1, 2015, to 4.4 million tons, down 6.5% against last year similar. Besides, the gross yield of potatoes as of Sept 1, 2015, was 13.9 million tons, down 16.8% against last year similar.
It is to be admitted, in 2014, the Ukrainian yield of vegetables had boosted to 9.6 million tons, up 2.6% against 2013 (potatoes to 23.7 million tons, up 8.4%).
