The increase of refugees worldwide is a «global crisis» that requires a «global solution,» UN Radio reports quoting Mogens Lykketoft, the President of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly,
as saying.

It is to be admitted, with world leaders set to descend on the United Nations in the coming days for the organizations key annual meeting, the refugee crisis is sure to be one of the top agenda items up for discussion.
With that in mind, the President of the General Assembly is calling on all nations to take an active role in finding a solution to the biggest humanitarian crisis the world has seen since the Second World War.
«It is not a crime to seek refuge and asylum. The future of millions of women, men and children are at stake. We must make sure our responses are tenable, focus and we work toward lasting, sustainable solutions,» he emphasized.
Besides, the President Lykketoft also admitted all countries must live up to their international obligations with regard to refugees.
He said rich countries must either welcome more refugees or give more resources to support them but that standing by and doing nothing is simply not an option.
