While speaking at the today meeting of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has stressed the need to urgently adopt a new Ukrainian energy strategy, Government Portal reports.
«Unfortunately, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has not adopted any energy strategy yet,» Yatseniuk said.
As to the report, Yatseniuk reminded that though one energy strategy had been adopted in 2006, but it thereupon appeared to be inefficient and so it was severely criticized.
«Then, in 2013, it was somewhat corrected - but, still, it didn’t become better,» Yatseniuk made it known.
Thus, Yatseniuk said that he once again submits the «New Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2020: Safety, Efficiency and Competition» to the Energy Ministry.
He made it known that this strategy has been developed by the Razumkov Centre jointly with the World Bank, the IMF, EBRD, European energy community, the Energy Charter and the US organizations - «that is, with all those who know which strategy is important for Ukraine».
As to the report, Yatseniuk also urged to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn to work this strategy through «by adding what he believes important in order to let the Ukrainian Government to adopt this strategy as soon as possible».
