As of today, the entire world has been called on by Jose Graziano da Silva, the Head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), to join a global movement to end hunger and malnutrition once and for all, UN Radio reports.
As to the report, da Silva was speaking at the International Agricultural Forum at the Expo 2015 Universal Exhibition or Expo Milan, in Italy.
It is to be admitted, Expo Milan, also known as the «worlds fair», is the public exhibition held until Oct under the theme «feeding the planet, energy for life».
Ana Carmo reports.
As to the report, while speaking to more than 50 agriculture ministers, FAOs Head said citizens, producers and the private sector worldwide all have a role to play in ending hunger.
He explained that the Expo 2015 Universal Exhibition, which is hosting the forum, comes at what he called a «crucial moment in history».
It coincides with the end of a 15-year global effort to reduce hunger as well as a new one that will promise to eradicate it altogether.
As to the report, the ministers are expected on Fri to sign what is called in Italian the «Carta di Milano,» which translates to the «Milano Card».
The initiative by the Italian government seeks to encourage countries, organizations, companies and citizens to pledge to find solutions to nutrition challenges.
