UN: Climate knowledge for Climate Action

The world can overcome the challenge posed by climate change and create safer, more prosperous societies if it arms itself with knowledge. Thats one of the messages being delivered by the United Nations on World Meteorological Day marked annually on 23 March, UN Radio reports.
Reportedly, this years theme is «climate knowledge for climate action.»
The theme is seeking to highlight recent advances in climate science and the need for decisive measures to limit climate change.
While speaking on occasion of the holiday, the Head of the World Meteorological Organization, Michel Jarraud, said that climate knowledge built in the last decades is an invaluable resource and a prerequisite for climate action.
As to him, over the last twelve months, thousands of lives have reportedly been saved by improved weather forecasting, early-warning systems and evacuation plans.
