Europe should accept migrants to stop smuggling
06.02.2015 09:47 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Europe should accept migrants through official channels in an effort to stop smuggling and control their borders, UN Radio says referring to the UN human rights expert François Crépeau report.
As to the report, an estimated 150,000 migrants and asylum seekers arrived by sea without official papers in Europe in 2014 (up against 80,000 in 2013).
Sweden has accepted 30,000 Syrian and Eritrean migrants while Germany has taken 20,000 migrants.
However, at same time, Mr. Crépeau admits that today sealing international borders is impossible and that the status quo isn’t sustainable.
