Ukrainian President had a phone conversation with Angela Merkel

As of yesterday, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the parties discussed the situation in the Donbas and stood for de-escalation and immediate ceasefire by militants. In this context, the important role of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission has been underlined.
Reportedly, Petro Poroshenko informed on the statement of the SMM representative regarding the shelling of the Donetsk airport from the residential areas controlled by militants, which negatively affects civilians and infrastructure.
Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel agreed with the need to urgently hold the session of the Trilateral Contact Group and the meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers in the Normandy format in order to continue negotiations at the highest level.
The key preconditions for the further peaceful resolution are: the pullback to the delimitation line, the border closure, the withdrawal of fighting vehicles, the liberation of hostages and the response to the aggravation of the humanitarian situation. It will create necessary conditions for the political dialogue.
It is to be admitted, the Ukrainian President and the German Chancellor call on all the parties to the conflict to make every effort to prevent the worse phase of the conflict.
As to the report, the parties also discussed the issue of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine and a series of measures aimed at ensuring sufficient level of support to stabilize the economic situation in Ukraine.
