Hundreds of Ebola experts needed to track cases
16.01.2015 08:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Hundreds of experts are needed across West Africa to reduce to zero the number of infections of Ebola,
UN Radio says referring to
David Nabarro, the UNs senior envoy dealing with the deadly disease.
As to Nabarro, almost 8,500 people have died in the worst affected countries, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone; over 21,000 people also have the virus.
Besides, Mr. Nabarro says epidemiologists or disease experts are needed in conjunction with anthropologists who study the behaviour of people.
«We need them everywhere. We need hundreds of them because we need to be able to find every single person who has Ebola and keep them under surveillance and get them under treatment if they get sick and when they get sick,» he admits.
Presently Mr. Nabarro is travelling to Europe to thank donors and also to encourage others to provide funds.
