Meeting in Normandy format in Astana is planned for January 15

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has informed on the preliminary agreement to hold a meeting with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France Francois Hollande and President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Astana (Kazakhstan) on January 15, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to Poroshenko, Ukraine insists on continuing the negotiations in Minsk format. At the same time, the President is considering various formats of negotiations with his international partners.
«I will negotiate to ensure that Russia will comply with its commitments under the Minsk memorandum and the Minsk protocol,» the President said.
As to Poroshenko, currently the opportunity is being considered to hold a meeting in Geneva format with involvement of the Presidents of the United States, France, Russia, Chancellor of Germany and leaders of the EU.
As to President, Ukraine insists on the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by all the parties, especially in the context of withdrawal of troops and restoration of control over the border. The President emphasized that certain progress had been achieved in the liberation of hostages, ensuring the ceasefire and assisting the OSCE representatives in the verification of the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. For the first time, the Ukrainian humanitarian assistance was shipped to the social institutions in the occupied territories.
