Yatseniuk instructs Minister of Energy and Coal Industry to speed up resolution of electricity supplies issue
24.12.2014 15:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Demchyshyn to speed up the resolution of issue of delivery of electricity supplies and ensuring power plants with coal, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, while speaking at the Cabinet Wednesday meeting, Yatseniuk said he had given some instructions to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry to address issues of «electricity supply and ensuring our power plants with coal.»
Yatseniuk also stressed that the Government «has demonopolised and fully opened market for all companies, which have Ukrainian license for imports of electricity.»
The Prime Minister again appealed to Volodymyr Demchyshyn demanding to speed up the resolution of these issues.
The situation is very complex in the power system, said Yatseniuk, and if temperature falls «the situation will be more complicated than it is today».
«What now saves us - it is the temperature. If temperature goes down - coal consumption will increase at once, and rolling power cuts will be massive,» the PM admitted.
He said that the position of the Cabinet is «all are in the same conditions.» As to the Prime Minister, if there is no electricity in Ukraine, this means that those areas where Russian terrorists temporary operate will not have electricity too. If there is electricity in Ukraine, coal supply is not hindered, overflows on import of electricity are signed - hence, electricity will be everywhere. It is a simple and intuitive approach."
