As of yesterday, in Warsaw, President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Speaker of the Polish Senate Bogdan Borusewicz and Marshal of the Sejm Radoslaw Sikorski,
President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, in the course of the conversation with the leaders of the upper and the lower houses of the Polish Parliament, the Head of State praised the active efforts of the Polish Sejm and Senate on the support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He has emphasized the importance of unanimous ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in the Senate and almost unanimous ratification in the Sejm.
Besides, Poroshenko expressed gratitude to B. Borusewicz and R. Sikorski for their personal pro-Ukrainian position and condemnation of the Russian aggression immediately after the Crimean developments.
«Ukraine struggles for its freedom and independence today. We feel and appreciate your support,» the President said.
As to the report, he has also thanked the Polish parliamentarians for their active participation in the monitoring missions during the parliamentary and presidential elections in Ukraine.
It is to be admitted, the parties expressed a belief that active interparliamentary cooperation would be soon restored, for the Ukrainian Parliament had already been elected.
Poland confirmed its readiness to conduct the regular meetings of the Interparliamentary Assemblies «Ukraine-Poland» and «Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania» in the nearest time.
Besides, Poroshenko called for the intensification of cooperation at the level of specialized committees. As to him, special attention should be paid to the involvement of legislative experience of Poland in the implementation of the Association Agreement.
Reportedly, the Ukrainian President laid flowers to the Memorial Plaque of Polish Deputies who died in the Second World War and the Smolensk Disaster of April 10, 2010.
