Ukrainian President held a meeting with Visegrad Group delegation

As of yesterday, the President of Ukraine held a meeting with the Visegrad Group delegation represented by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak, Foreign Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic Grzegorz Schetyna and Lubomir Zaoralek, as well as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Laszlo Szabo, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the President emphasized that the international support, especially the assistance of the closest neighbors of Ukraine from the Visegrad Group, is extremely important for the European integration of Ukraine. «Application of the experience of your countries in certain spheres: struggle against corruption, reforms in social sphere, economic reforms, decentralization is increasingly important for the implementation of positive changes in our country,» Poroshenko said.
Besides, the Head of State also noted that active implementation of pro-European reforms in Ukraine could result in transformation of the Visegrad Group from the format of 4 countries to the format of 5 countries including Ukraine. «We believe that active reforms in Ukraine will transform the Visegrad Group from V4 to V5».
As to the report, diplomats of the Visegrad Group expressed full solidarity with Ukraine in the protection of its territorial integrity and sovereignty. They also expressed readiness to be involved in certain vectors of reforms in Ukraine. «Each country of the Visegrad Group will assume certain vector of reforms in Ukraine and focus on their implementation,» Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak has emphasized. Slovakia will be responsible for energy and security reforms; Poland for decentralization, local government reform and public finance administration; Czech Republic for civil society, education and media; Hungary for economic policy, development of small and medium business and establishment of free trade area between Ukraine and the EU.
The participants of the meeting noted that despite certain specialization, the Visegrad Group would take joint measures to accelerate the European integration of Ukraine.
