Efforts to stop Ebola start to pay off
30.10.2014 09:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
There has been significant mobilization in West Africa of international personnel whose efforts are starting to pay off, UN Radio says referring to the Head of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) Anthony Banbury.
As to report, Anthony Banbury held a joint press conference with the US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power in Accra, Ghana.
Mr. Banbury said the picture they are seeing in the three countries most affected by Ebola is a very mixed one.
People are becoming infected and dying every day, he explained, but a lot of progress by governments, NGOs and UN agencies has been made.
Besides, Mr. Banbury added that three basic things are required to get the crisis under control.
He also said they need people, especially trained medical personnel, as well as supplies and money.
