Observers of European Parliament highly evaluate holding of elections to Verkhovna Rada

As of yesterday, the Ukrainian President had a meeting with delegation of the European Parliament on monitoring of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. Head of the delegation Andrew Plenkovich congratulated the President on successful and democratic elections that meet the European standards, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, monitoring mission of the European Parliament noted that the elections had been generally free and fair. As to the observers, the elections «fully met the Ukrainian legislation and international standards».
«We have visited a lot of polling stations and can make an optimistic conclusion on the organization and holding of these elections,» Andrew Plenkovich noted.
Reportedly, the Head of the delegation also drew attention to the fact that the main topics of the elections in all regions of Ukraine had been the European integration and the establishment of peace. «These two topics are the main for Ukraine. They form the direction of reforms necessary for your country in the coming months,» he said.
As to the report, Poroshenko expressed hope that the new Government that would be formed following the elections would accelerate the implementation of reforms.
The Ukrainian President also addressed the members of the European Parliament with a request to accelerate the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in their countries.
