06.10.2014 10:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko notes that he will sign the Law «On Purification of Government» though it is not perfect, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports
As to the report, while speaking in Lviv National University within last week, the President said: «Ive thoroughly studied the draft Law „On Purification of Government“ in the version that has been adopted by the Verkhovna Rada the last week. It is not flawless. It has a lot of problematic moments. A lot of innocent people will have to go through a humiliating procedure. I am not happy with that. Id wish for the better. But in current circumstances, the Law will be signed».
As to Poroshenko, he has made a decision to sign the given Law due to the necessity of cleansing the entire state apparatus. «I am confident that the given law is rather positive than negative and it will make Ukraine better,» the President stated.
Besides, the Head of State emphasized that he would study the recommendations of the Venice Commission and the Constitutional Court, the decision of the EU on harmonization of Ukrainian legislation, the decision of the Council of Europe and the recommendations of the European Court of Human Rights. «As President, I do not have the right to ignore them. But we stand for the unity of the country, thus, lustration will be carried out,» the President noted.
In case of remarks from the Venice Commission and the Constitutional Court, the President doesnt exclude the possibility of making amendments to this Law.
«We will finally put this issue into legislative framework. It was the main reason for the adoption of the law. The country must purify itself and it must be carried out under clear procedure regulated by the law,» Petro Poroshenko stressed.
The President stressed that the Law would put an end to the issue of transparency of government formation.
