Gazprom: Ukraine could receive gas discount from Russian budget, if it repays debt
02.06.2014 17:19 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
A discount from Gazprom could reduce the price Ukraine pays for Russian gas below $385.5 per 1,000 cubic meters, NRCU says referring to the Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller report.
«If Ukraine repays its gas debt, the Russian side will be ready to consider an arrangement for resolving the issue of price not only with a reduction in the export duty, but also under a direct commercial agreement on a corporate basis,» Miller said.
Ukraine was charged $268.5 per 1,000 cubic meters for Russian gas in the first quarter of 2014. In connection with the halt in payments, the corporate discount was ended effective April 1 and the price rose to $385.5.
Russian officials previously had said the export duty was the only source of flexibility in the price of gas for Ukraine.
