Ukraine's debt for gas to Russia may be revised under pretrial procedure or in court
13.05.2014 10:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The debt of Naftogaz Ukrainy to Russia’s Gazprom may be revised under a pretrial procedure or in the Stockholm Arbitration, NRCU says referring to the Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan Kyiv briefing report.
«According to lawyers, there is the possibility of reconsidering the amount of debt formed as of January 1, 2014. Therefore I will not name the amount of the debt,» Prodan said.
The Minister admitted that Ukraine does not recognize Russia’s invoice for the April delivery of gas at a price of about $480 per 1,000, while at the same time Ukraine is ready to fully pay for gas if an agreement is signed with Russia to keep the gas price at $268.50 per 1,000 for April and subsequent periods.
As to earlier report, Russia estimates Ukraine’s debt for natural gas at $3.508 billion.
