Ukrainian Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk meets with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

On Saturday, March 22, in Kyiv the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk met with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Government Portal reports.
Arsenii Yatseniuk passed his gratitude to the UN Secretary-General for the visit to Ukraine at such difficult time for the country.
The Head of Government reminded about the consequences of «the so-called referendum of the so-called government of Crimea» and about the recent actions of the Russian Federation - «annexation of the territory of the independent state».
«We don’t acknowledge this referendum and believe that the international community will condemn these actions and will find a proper answer to the unreasonable Russian aggression and invasion of the territory of Ukraine,» Arsenii Yatseniuk.
The UN Secretary-General congratulated the Head of the Government on signing the day before the political part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in Brussels: «It is a very good sign that demonstrates realization of the sovereign decision of your country».
Moreover, he emphasized Ukraine is facing the most difficult and dramatic challenges in the whole history: «The Ukrainian people are suffering a trauma no country should suffer».
«I am here to express my solidarity with the people and the Government of Ukraine at the time of tests,» Ban Ki-moon stressed.
The Secretary-General also evaluated the address by Arsenii Yatseniuk to the Ukrainian people delivered several days before: «You have shown your real vision while calling to tolerance, unity and reconciliation among the Ukrainian people».
«I believe that having support of the international community, under Your leadership and owing to the courage of Ukrainian people You will be capable to overcome these hard times,» Ban Ki-moon said.
