05.03.2014 19:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukraine has initiated a meeting of the CIS foreign ministers in Kyiv on March 7.
«The meeting has been scheduled. It will take place in Kyiv from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,» Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Mykhailo Yezhel said at a news conference in Minsk on Wednesday, NRCU reports.
«It is necessary to look for any forum for dialogue,» Yezhel said. A Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission, a meeting of which was planned back in December 2013 and was postponed, should gather in Minsk in March, Yezhel said when asked by journalists whether there have been official contacts between Ukrainian and Belarusian authorities of late. «Not so far. Our government started working very recently. The intergovernmental commission [meeting] planned for March should be a powerful incentive for comparing notes and starting to work,» Yezhel said. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry information policy department said earlier that Ukraine wished to host an extraordinary meeting of the CIS foreign ministers in Kyiv. «In light of the situation in certain regions of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia, as the chairman of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, will initiate an extraordinary session of the CIS foreign policy chiefs in Kyiv in the near future,» the ministry said on February 28.
