28.02.2014 18:31 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Western politicians who provided assistance to the manifestations’ participants on the Maidan (Independence Square) in Kyiv are to blame for the victims in Ukraine, deposed President Viktor Yanukovych said this at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on Friday, NRCU reports.
«The government in Ukraine has been seized by young pro-fascists who represent an absolute minority,» he said, adding that the blame for the victims on the Maidan rests with «the irresponsible policies of the West that helped militants on the Maidan.»
Yanukovych also said that he had fled the country «due to an immediate threat to my life.» He said that the condition of his return to Ukraine was that all conflicting parties surrender their weapons and free government buildings. «The current way out is to fulfill all that was stipulated by the agreement between the president, the opposition, with the participation of the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Poland, as well as a representative of the Russian Federation,» Yanukovych said, adding that, among other things, he is demanding constitutional reform, presidential elections in December and a national referendum, at which the question of a new Constitution and the state system should be raised.
