Ministry of Agrarian Policy estimates 1.6 million ha winter grains sown areas as weak/rare

Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers condition of winter grains (2006 crop) sown at 1.6 million ha as weak/rare, reported Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy, on Verkhovna Rada Session.
As to Baranivskiy, winter grains sown at " 560.000 ha (9 % total) have perished due to unfavorable weather conditions.
He said 4 million ha (65%) winter grains sown areas condition is satisfactory.
As earlier reported, end Jan Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts had estimated condition of 1.742 million ha (28.1%) winter grains sown areas as weak/rare.
It is to be reminded, domestic agrarian companies aren’t going to sell off their barley reserves, since they anticipate high percentage of winter sown barley destruction and therefore will use remaining grain for perished areas re-sowing.
Agrarians have sown winter grains (2006 crop) at 6.19 million ha.
Domestic food grain market annual requirement is 6–7 million tons.
