Ukrainian President: I want to save our country
18.02.2014 09:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The President stands for peaceful settlement of the political conflict and emphasizes that both parties must comply with the law. It was stated by him in the interview to journalist Vitaliy Korotych within last week, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«I have been incited to various ways of solving this situation. But I would like to say that I do not want to make war. I do not want any decisions to be made in a radical manner. I want to save our country,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
He emphasized that he was willing to restore stable development of the country.
«It is my goal. All we do is to establish peace in the country,» the Head of State noted.
He is confident that truce in the political crisis is the first step towards reconciliation. The goal is to establish peace in the state.
«We offer to search for compromises. We make concessions but also call on the opposition to make concessions. It doesn’t matter who will win - the government or the opposition. Ukraine should win. It is our goal,» Viktor Yanukovych noted.
According to him, all the participants of the confrontation must demonstrate that Ukrainian society can preserve peace in the country.
«Ukraine is a state that has enough strength and we are capable of bringing order and harmony in our home. I am grateful to those who took hold of their emotions and started thinking pragmatically, with cold mind. It is wonderful. It is equally painful for me when people from both sides suffer,» the President said.
According to the Head of State, this shouldn’t happen and all the parties should make everything to refrain from radicalism.
«Everyone must know that there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. The limit should exist for everyone. Nobody should violate it. The limit is the Law,» the President concluded.
