Vilkul held field meeting of operative headquarters on Danube in areas of possible underflooding

In Odessa the Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul held a field meeting to discuss preparing to floods, Government Portal reports.
Taking into account the sharp temperature rise it is possible forming of spring floods. On the preliminary estimates Ismail, Kylyi and Reni areas can suffer from underflooding in Odessa region and there are 12 inhabited localities with over 10 thousand people, four sea ports and around 120 kilometers of roads.
The Vice Prime Minister set a task to subdivisions of the State Emergency Service and Odessa regional state administration to intensify monitoring of the water level in the Danube aiming to ensure predictability of the hydrological situation on the Ukrainian section of the river. Moreover, to stir up carrying of immediate works on hydraulic facilities. To place lookout stations on most dangerous places where there exists the treat of dike burst and other hydro-technical utilities.
At the meeting Olexandr Vilkul commissioned the Interdepartmental headquarters to organize interaction with corresponding bodies of Romania concerning mutual informing about the situation in the Danube basin. If needed, a well-balanced artificial regulation of water levels in the Danube river will be ensured, so that the underflooding on the territories of Ismail, Kylyi and Reni areas should be prevented.
