Feed maize demand up
03.02.2006 15:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Exporters feed maize demand is boosting on Ukrainian domestic market, reported Agrarica Ltd (bulletin AGRO + Grain).
«Feed maize is now in rushing demand,» declared Agrarica Ltd representative.
Agrarica Ltd analysts explain demand sharp rise with vessels having come into ports, insufficient maize reserves in ports and tough competition.
Analysts admit presently exporters must substantially boost purchase prices in order to attract maximal maize lots/accelerate shipments. However, big maize lots owners, anticipating further prices growth, are in no hurry to sell off maize.
As to Agrarica Ltd, within this week feed maize purchase prices have grown to UAH505–540/t (CPT port)/US$98–105/t (FOB).
As earlier reported, 2005 maize crop totaled 7.1 million tons (up against 8.9 million tons in 2004).
Ministry of Agrarian Policy is troubled about Ukrainian maize export activation.
Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy, promised to send telegrams to regions recommending agrarians to grow maize price.
As to Agrarica Ltd, since 2005/06 MY (Jul05-Nov05) beginning Ukrainian companies exported in total 607.000t maize.
