Azarov hopes that a fair gas price to be established at a meeting of Ukraine and Russia presidents
16.12.2013 14:12 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov hopes that the result of a meeting of the Ukrainian-Russian Interstate Commission, which will be held in Moscow on December 17, to be the establishment of fair European gas prices.
The Prime Minister said that in an interview with the Inter TV channel on Sunday, December 15, Government Portal reports.
«It is a moment when the parties came to the opinion that it is the time to resolve this issue. We did not ask for a discount, we’re just talking about the European prices, the European principles in approaches to price formation, and I hope that we will finally resolve the issue at this meeting,» Mykola Azarov said.
Prime Minister stressed that the gas price for Ukraine should be set at the level of European’s prices.
According to him, Ukraine also has the intension to raise the question on the resumption of negotiations on the establishment tripartite consortium involving the European side to ensure transparency conditions for transporting gas and management of Ukrainian GTS.
Mykola Azarov stressed that this issue is extremely important because transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian gas transport system to Europe has recently reduced.
