15.10.2013 18:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukrainian government plans to introduce tax breaks for the companies, which use green technologies in their production, ecology and natural resources minister of Ukraine Oleh Proskuryakov told journalists, ForUm correspondent reports.
«The first steps to encourage such enterprises have been taken. A part of the tax, which businesses pay to environmental fund, is refinanced for ecological modernization projects,» the minister said.
According to him, the project is now under examination in the Ministry. «As soon as we have the confirmation that it will contribute to cleaner production, the Ministry will take the appropriate decision,» Proskuryakov said.
He stressed that the heavy industry needs implementation of environmental projects on a first-priority basis. «Heavy industry, which we inherited from the Soviet Union, does not meet current energy efficiency and environmental standards. Taking into account the adaptation to European environmental standards after the signing of the Association, we are required to change much,» Proskuryakov summed up.
