In spite of severe weather events there is no threat to crops

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk reported on the issue to the Prime Minister during Monday meeting, Mykola Azarov Official Website says.
He admitted that the grain crops and grain legumes have been harvested on the area of 72%, and it was ground 36 million tons of grain, and the average yield is 31.8 c / ha.
The Minister of Agrarian Policy noted that the weather has still adversely affected the harvest. Such crops as corn, sunflower, soybean, millet and sugar beet have not been fully gathered so far. «We do not expect significant losses. Absolutely non-critical indicators,» assured Prysiazhnyuk .
According to him, the sugar beet harvest is in good condition. The potato crop does not give rise to concern either. At the moment, 95 % of the forecast crop has been gathered and the harvest can fully satisfy the needs of the population and prevent an increase in the consumer prices.
The autumn field works have been already conducted on the area of 2.1 million hectares (25%) and 5 million hectares still have to be planted.
The Minister also noted that according to the instructions of Mykola Azarov, in the regions there are working groups that are monitoring the situation in the food market and prices for the basic foodstuffs and the course of harvesting.
