Azarov: High yield to guarantee food security and price stability during the year

This years Ukraine expects to harvest high yield that will ensure food security and price stability during the marketing year. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 7 August 2013, Government Portal reports.
According to the Prime Minister overall we expect grain production after completion in the amount of more than 57 million tons. This is 11 million tons up than last year. And at least 75% of grain is food grain.
«We’ll satisfy the demand of food security and price stability to the full extent during the marketing year, Mykola Azarov said. Domestic consumption is expected to be 28.4 million tons, so this years grain export potential of the industry is about 28 million tons.»
PM noted that state procurements have fixed grain prices at an acceptable level to agrarians and already today have created guarantees of stable bread prices and bakery products.
«The stare through the State Agricultural Fund advanced producers on forward purchases in the amount of almost UAH 1 billion under obligation to supply 1 million tons of grain to the national stockpile. Other 1.3 million tons of grain were contracted by the State Food Grain Corporation. Regional grain stocks are actively being formed,» Mykola Azarov informed.
